IVE Graces Front Pages of Japanese Newspapers After Tokyo Dome Concert, Emerging as Icon for the MZ Generation

K-pop girl group IVE successfully completed their Tokyo Dome concert, attracting major attention from the Japanese media.

According to their agency, Starship Entertainment, on the 5th, news of IVE's concert was featured on the front pages of leading Japanese sports newspapers.

Prominent outlets such as Nikkan Sports, Tokyo Chunichi Sports, Sankei Sports, and Sports Hochi dedicated special editions to highlight IVE’s concert, with headlines like "IVE Arrives in Tokyo!" and "IVE Makes History with DIVE (IVE's fan club) Over Two Days!" One headline read, "IVE's Rei Fulfills Childhood Dream," showcasing the group's immense popularity.

The Tokyo Dome concert was an encore performance of IVE's first world tour, "IVE THE 1ST WORLD TOUR 'SHOW WHAT I HAVE.'" The event, held on the 4th and 5th, attracted a total of 95,000 fans.

On the first day alone, over 40,000 attendees filled the Tokyo Dome, reflecting IVE’s explosive popularity in Japan.

Music critic Kim Mo commented, "It’s rare for a group to hold a Tokyo Dome concert just three years after debuting.

IVE's popularity in Japan is also evident in their album sales.
Their new mini-album ALIVE, released on the 28th of last month, topped the Oricon Daily Chart for three consecutive days and also claimed the number one spot on Billboard Japan’s Top Album Sales chart for the week of September 4th.

IVE’s success showcases their potential as a key driver of the new Hallyu wave.

A Japanese music industry insider noted, "IVE’s music and performances resonate with the tastes of Japan’s younger generation. The members’ unique charm has captivated the MZ generation."

This successful concert underscores the global influence of K-pop.

It also signals a smooth generational transition in K-pop following BTS’s hiatus.

IVE’s agency expressed their gratitude, saying, "The members were deeply touched by the warm reception from Japanese fans.

We will continue to repay fans with great music and performances." The agency added that IVE’s global activities will expand further, starting with the Tokyo Dome concert.

IVE is expected to return to Korea to prepare for their next activities.
