BTS’s V and Jungkook File 67,500 USD Damage Lawsuit Against YouTube Channel ‘Taldeoksooyongso’

BTS members V and Jungkook, alongside their agency Big Hit Music, have taken legal action against the YouTube channel ‘Taldeoksooyongso.’

According to reports from Star News, Big Hit Music, V, and Jungkook filed a lawsuit in March against the operator of Taldeoksooyongso, identified as Mr. A, seeking damages of 90 million KRW.

The first hearing is scheduled to take place on the 23rd at the Seoul Western District Court.

Big Hit Music has consistently pursued legal action against netizens who infringe upon the rights of their artists.

The company stated,
“We have been regularly taking legal action against those who defame, insult, sexually harass, spread false information, or engage in malicious slander against BTS,” emphasizing, “There will be no settlements or leniency under any circumstances in the future.”

In particular, in June, Big Hit Music directly mentioned Taldeoksooyongso, stating,
“In 2022, we filed a complaint against Taldeoksooyongso for defamation and interference with business, and the investigation has resumed.” The company also added, “We filed an additional civil lawsuit earlier this year seeking damages for defamation and other illegal activities conducted by Taldeoksooyongso.”

BTS member V also expressed his stance on the matter.

Through the fan community platform Weverse, he stated,
“Not only us, but all artists dislike people like that. Whether fans and ARMYs have been monitoring or not, I will file a lawsuit on behalf of those who were hurt and couldn't muster the courage.”

This lawsuit is being seen as a significant example of the industry’s tough stance on protecting the rights of K-pop artists and addressing the issue of malicious comments.
Experts have noted that “such legal actions will not only protect the rights of the artists but also have a positive impact on fostering a healthy fan culture.”

Moreover, the outcome of this lawsuit is expected to influence the legal response to similar cases in the future.
Industry insiders predict, “This case could lead to stronger sanctions against the spread of malicious comments and false information online.”

Many are keenly watching how this lawsuit will unfold and what impact it may have on the K-pop industry and fan culture.
