Byeon Woo-seok's Security Company Apologizes for "Excessive Security" Controversy... "Plans to Implement Preventive Education"

The security company responsible for actor Byeon Woo-seok's protection has officially apologized for the "excessive security" controversy that occurred at Incheon International Airport. The company was criticized for inspecting lounge passengers' tickets, shining flashlights at them, and unauthorized control of airport gates.

The controversy erupted on the 12th when Byeon Woo-seok was departing for Hong Kong for his Asia fan meeting tour. Fans and press gathered at the airport to see Byeon Woo-seok, whose popularity surged after the tvN drama "Lovely Runner" ended, leading to excessive control by the security company.

Footage from the scene showed a security staff member declaring that the gate would be controlled for 10 minutes and forcibly blocking access for everyone, including reporters. Additionally, there were instances of the staff shining strong flashlights at lounge passengers.

The controversy expanded further when it was revealed that the security company inspected passengers' tickets near the escalator in the lounge area. Critics argued that such excessive security measures were unnecessary in a public place like an airport.

In response to the growing controversy, the security company's representative issued a statement through the media.

He clarified that Byeon Woo-seok's agency had never requested such excessive security measures. Regarding the gate control, he explained that it was "announced to prevent safety accidents," and the ticket inspections were "conducted in cooperation with airport security."

However, he admitted that shining flashlights at passengers was "a clear mistake and wrong action by the security staff," and he offered an apology. The representative stated, "We deeply apologize for the inconvenience caused to the public," and added, "We plan to conduct preventive education for all security personnel to prevent recurrence."

This incident has sparked discussions about the culture of celebrity security.

An entertainment industry insider commented, "It is important to balance the safety of celebrities with the rights of ordinary citizens.

We hope this incident will lead to the establishment of a more mature security culture."

Meanwhile, an airport official stated, "Maintaining order and ensuring the safety of all users is the top priority at the airport. We will work closely with relevant companies to prevent such situations from happening again."

This incident is expected to prompt a review of security methods for celebrities, particularly concerning the balance between security measures in public places and the protection of citizens' rights. It remains to be seen how the entertainment and security industries will respond to this incident and what changes will be implemented.
