Actor Ji Chang-wook graces the January issue of Singles magazine with a captivating photoshoot and an in-depth interview.
Dressed in a leather jacket and delivering an intense gaze into the camera, Ji perfectly embodies the presence of a leading figure in the noir genre.
Known for his impactful roles in noir works such as The Worst of Evil and Gangnam B-Side, Ji Chang-wook shared candid thoughts about acting.
“Action scenes are physically exhausting, but there’s a certain thrill and sense of accomplishment that comes with them,” he said. However, he clarified, “Whether a project has large emotional swings doesn’t make it harder or easier.” Ji explained his unique approach, saying, “I tend to push myself into pain and work through suffering – that’s just my style as an actor.”
Regarding his recent streak of projects, Ji commented, “I’ve been working nonstop since two years ago because I didn’t want to miss out on roles or projects I really wanted to do.”
He emphasized,
“Aside from working, I’ve found joy in challenging myself with roles I haven’t tried before.
It’s part of broadening my range as an actor.”
Ji Chang-wook is currently busy filming the Disney+ original series The Manipulated, which he described as “a serialized version of the movie Fabricated City.”
He expressed excitement about working alongside Yang Dong-geun, Lee Kwang-soo, Do Kyung-soo, and Jo Yoon-soo, revealing that “Oh Sang-ho, the writer of Taxi Driver, is involved.
While the general setup is similar to the movie, the characters and storylines will unfold completely differently.”
Having tackled a wide range of genres and roles, Ji expressed his desire to keep pushing his boundaries.
“I haven’t played a doctor yet, and I’d love to do a project centered entirely on action, like racing or car chases,” he said, revealing his unyielding spirit for new challenges.
Ji offered a unique perspective on his “sensual” appeal, saying, “I think sensuality develops as someone matures and gains experience.
It comes from layers of a person’s attitude, thoughts, and life experiences.”
However, in a playful twist, he added, “I’m very harsh when it comes to self-assessment – I think I’m just cute.”
Through this interview, Ji Chang-wook displayed both his serious passion for acting and his lighthearted, charming personality.
His reflections on his artistic journey and his enthusiasm for new challenges suggest that his acting range will continue to expand.
