ZeroBaseOne is experiencing a surge in popularity in Japan, topping major charts with their new release.
On the 21st, Japan's Oricon announced that ZeroBaseOne's third mini-album, "You Had Me at HELLO," reached number one on the weekly album ranking for the 27th (covering the period from the 13th to the 19th).
This achievement comes just about two months after their debut in Japan. Previously, in March, ZeroBaseOne released their first Japanese single, "Yura yura " which also topped the Oricon weekly singles ranking for April 1st.
The album is also dominating digital charts. "You Had Me at HELLO" hit number one on Line Music's real-time album TOP100 right after its release. It also secured the second spot on the mora comprehensive album chart and third on the RecoChoku daily album chart.
The records keep coming.
On the release day alone, the new album sold over 1 million copies, making ZeroBaseOne the first K-pop group to achieve "million-seller" status with three consecutive albums in just one day.
"You Had Me at HELLO" features ZeroBaseOne's unique "ZeroPop" genre. The title track, "Feel the Pop," conveys a message of forgetting all the hesitations, worries, and concerns of youth, even if just for a moment.
