The group aespa is showcasing its unique presence through their new song 'Supernova.'
The pre-release title track from their first full album 'Armageddon,' 'Supernova,' has maintained its long-term popularity, topping major Korean music charts for seven consecutive weeks since its release in May.
Additionally, it has surpassed 100 million streams on the world’s largest music platform, Spotify, proving its global popularity.
aespa has also achieved the No.1 spot in the recently announced girl group brand reputation survey.
Based on big data analysis from the 14th of last month to the 14th of this month, aespa topped the chart, surpassing notable 4th generation girl groups such as IVE, LE SSERAFIM, and NewJeans. This is a 14.41% increase from the previous month, indicating the continuous rise in aespa's popularity.
'Supernova' has created a buzz by establishing aespa’s unique 'steel flavor' genre. The sharp and intense melody and voice, combined with a new expanded multiverse concept, have created aespa's distinct color. This differentiated strategy, which diverges from the one-dimensional images like pure, refreshing, or girl power typically seen in other girl groups, is seen as the fruition of aespa's firm independent path.
Issues such as dating rumors, a fire accident during a music show recording, and comments by HYBE's Bang Si-Hyuk regarding aespa led to various challenges. However, aespa turned these situations into opportunities, earning the public’s favor with their confident and candid demeanor.
Winter commented, "We were aware of the issues, but instead of dwelling on them, we thought 'our first full album is bound to do well' and accepted it." Karina emphasized, "The love from the public is something we received because we focused on our activities." This attitude has positively influenced the album's promotional activities, earning support from fans and the general public.
aespa’s achievements are not limited to domestic success. Their recently released Japanese debut single 'Hot Mess' was selected as 'Best New Track of the Week' by the American media outlet Uproxx. Additionally, they are currently on an arena tour in Japan. aespa, who set the record for the fastest girl group to enter Tokyo Dome last year, is expected to solidify their position in the global market through this arena tour.
They added, "Their insistence on unique worldviews and musical styles has been crucial in establishing their identity."
Moving forward, there is keen industry interest in what new records aespa will set in both domestic and international music markets and how they will further develop their unique style. aespa's journey is anticipated to elevate the diversity and creativity of the K-pop industry.
