Recently, actress Kim Hye-yoon met with Star News at a cafe in Gangnam, Seoul, to discuss the recently concluded tvN Monday-Tuesday drama 'Lovely Runner' (written by Lee Si-eun, directed by Yoon Jong-ho), which ended on the 28th.
'Lovely Runner' is a time-slip romantic comedy drama about an avid fan named Im Sol (played by Kim Hye-yoon) who struggles to save her favorite artist, Sun-jae (played by Byeon Woo-seok), after his death leaves her in despair. Kim Hye-yoon plays the female lead, Im Sol.
During the interview, Kim Hye-yoon spoke about her romantic scenes with co-star Byeon Woo-seok, describing their on-set relationship more as camaraderie than romantic chemistry. "It was more about camaraderie than excitement. We relied on each other during tough times," she said.
However, she also shared moments where she felt a spark. Kim Hye-yoon recounted, "There was a scene where Im Sol urgently needed to find a bathroom on the bus because of a stomach ache. But then, Sun-jae, who was more distressed, asked the bus driver to stop the bus."
She continued, "At that moment, Sun-jae felt incredibly reliable to me. I was touched by the fact that he sacrificed himself for me. He was reassuring and dependable. I even told Byeon Woo-seok that during filming."
Kim Hye-yoon also shared her experience of filming a kiss scene with Byeon Woo-seok. "It was the first time I had so many affectionate scenes in a project. So, I was very nervous about the kiss scene. But the director explained everything in detail, and they captured those points well, so it turned out beautifully. But I feel too embarrassed to watch it on TV," she confessed.
She explained how Byeon Woo-seok was highly focused on his role during the kiss scene. "I was embarrassed, nervous, and trembling. But he kept asking the director questions. With the director and staff's encouragement, the kiss scene was created," she said.
Currently, Byeon Woo-seok is rising as a top actor following the success of 'Lovely Runner.' Kim Hye-yoon commented on his success, "He has always shone brightly, but he seems to shine even more through this project. I watch him with a motherly heart as he grows more distant. Now, I feel like I need to catch up with him," she joked.
